We began the finishing process by priming the dresser and the four boxes.  They were then sanded and painted with a nice white paint.  We chose to use a vinyl base coat paint, which would allow us to apply a clear lacquer over the top of it, ensuring an extra layer of durability.

The top of the dresser is 3/4″ thick Alder, stained to match some previous work we did for the clients, and finished with three coats of conversion varnish.

After we painted the dresser, we applied a glaze over the entire piece, making sure to keep it heavy in the edges, distressed markings, corners, and grooves.  We also added some random light and dark streaks throughout the body, adding an extra layer of detail.

Two coats of lacquer were sprayed over the entire dresser carcass and boxes after the glazing process was completed.

The curved drawer fronts really look nice, with their smooth, graceful curves transitioning into the curved sides!

The final piece really looks nice in the clients bedroom!  The unit is large enough to hold a ton of clothes and have a commanding presence in the room, but not so large that it overpowers its space or the surrounding pieces of furniture.
